Do you speak Christianese? There is a problem with language and words in the Christian community. All the important words
are already full of meaning, and often the meaning is incorrect or misleading. When we use those words, we have great difficulty
in communicating. I have chosen to invent some new words that I can then fill up with meaning so we can use them to communicate
the foundational concepts of Christianity.
This leaflet, “Simpleness”is the first of the four “Ness” pamphlets. The other three
are Nothingness, Puppyness, and Featherness.
A pamphlet on simpleness aught to be simple, so let’s begin...
In Rom 2:11
it says: “God is not a respecter of persons.” That means that no one person has an advantage over any other person in discovering
and receiving all that God is and has for the people of His creation. A person with an IQ of 167 does not have an advantage
over a person with an IQ of 38. Both have an equal opportunity to receive all that God has for them. It means that a person
of great intellect and great education does not have an advantage over a person of no intellect and no education.
It says
in the Bible that the diciples were ignorant and unlearned men, yet Jesus chose each of them. On the other hand, the apostle
Paul was a man of great learning, yet in Phil 3:8 he said he considered his great learning and accomplishments under the law “as rubbish.”
It is clear that our Life in Christ is not based on our intellect.
If the Christian life isn’t based on great knowledge and great
learning, then it must be simple... so simple that anyone can comprehend all that is required to participate in the eternal purpose
of God.
Be clear, in the Christian walk, if it becomes complicated you can be pretty sure you have missed Him and His purpose
in your life.
